Burial and cremation services
Funeral arrangements
Arrangement services include:
- Moving your loved one from where they passed away to the funeral home
- Call your local AVBOB agent or dial 0861 28 26 21 (standard rates apply) to make this arrangement. If your loved one is to be buried or cremated in a different town or city to where they passed away, you should still call your nearest AVBOB funeral branch and they will assist in transporting your loved one to the place of burial or cremation
- Registration of death We can do this for you, but we will need the following from you:
- The Notice of Death (this is form DHA-1663). This form will be given to you by a doctor or other medical expert who confirms the death
- Your loved one’s identity document or smart card ID
- Personal, professional consultation with the family about the funeral arrangements (You can arrange the burial, cremation, or aquamation at your local AVBOB funeral branch, or you can request that an AVBOB funeral agent visits you at home to make the arrangements)
- Assistance with the selection of basic caskets or coffins
- Advice on wording and placement of notices in the newspapers of your choice
- Liaising with florists for fresh flowers
- Preparation of your loved one
- Use of our private family viewing facilities
- Funeral pamphlets
Guiding you through the decisions you need to make
There are a number of decisions you will need to make about the burial, cremation, or aquamation of your loved one. It is best to speak to your family members before any final decisions are made to ensure that everyone is satisfied with the service. Be sure to find out if your loved one included specific funeral instructions in their last will and testament.
It may be difficult to think about these things, but by doing so you will be sure to give your loved one a dignified send-off.
The following are some of the things you need to think about. There may be more decisions you will need to make but your AVBOB agent is there to guide you.
- Should your loved one be buried, cremated, or aquamated?
- Where must the funeral service be held? Not only the town or city, but also the venue, like a place of worship, chapel, or at the graveside.
- Should there be a memorial service and if there is, who is the minister or other religious leader who should conduct the service?
- What type of flowers should there be at the service and what must be done with them after the service?
- Do you want funeral leaflets handed out at the service? If yes, do you want them printed in colour or in black and white? What information do you want to include in the leaflet?
- The type of casket, coffin, or ash coffin. Click here to view our full range of coffins, caskets, and related products.
